Pilates is a body conditioning routine that seeks to build flexibility, strength, endurance and co-ordination without adding muscle bulk. In addition Pilates increases circulation and helps sculpt the body and strengthen the body's core. Pilates exercises teach awareness of neutral alignment of the spine and strengthen the deep muscles of the back and abdomen to support postural alignment, essential to help prevent back pain. People who do Pilates regulary feel they have better posture, are less prone to injury and experience better overall health.

The great thing about Pilates is that just about anyone can do it from couch potatoes to fitness fanatics and professional sports people.

Pilates is an exercise method designed to elongate, strengthen, gain endurance and restore the body to balance. It is based upon an anatomical understanding of the body's muscular and skeletal systems. Sessions intergrate the whole body to re-educate and restore it to optimum muscular and skeletal function.

Osteopaths, Physiotherapists and General Practioners often recommend Pilates as one of the most effective forms of exercise today. Pilates can be beneficial for just about everyone, regardless of age and fitness level.
