Mat work
Pilates mat work is the foundation of the system, the spring from which the water flows. It is the source of all that flows, the root of every other exercise in the repertoire, and it never ceases to challenge. Without an intricate familiarity with the mat work, you will lack a fundamental component in your practice.
Mat work can be practiced anywhere and everywhere, with no special apparatus other than a mat. You can practice it anytime of day, at any level of difficulty, from fundamental to advanced. You also can structure it to meet different goals: as warm up for Pilates on apparatus, as part of a daily conditioning program, core strength, for general body awareness and neuromuscular reeducation , or as a pre-and postnatal activity.
mat work embodies flow as no other apparatus does. It lends itself to the integration of transitions and movements without pause, and because of this fact, it also promotes cardiovascular endurance more than any other aspects of Pilates method. Duration and flow of movements result in muscle endurance.

Reformer
The universal reformer, commonly know as the reformer, is undoubtedly the most recognisable and popular piece of equipment in the Pilates menagerie. It is versatile beyond all imagination. The movements performed on the reformer range from fundamental to extremely advanced, movements that are performed in every conceivable position and for every possible purpose.

Cadillac/Trapeze table
The Cadillac facilitates ranges of motion that surpass even those of the reformer. The cadillac's structure also permits hanging exercises , opening up tremendous possibilities for the upper and lower body. These exercises develop balance, coordination and strength throughout acrobatic-type movements, which are very beneficial as well as a lot of fun. The fact that the Cadillac does not move, providing a stable base of support, is an advantage for people who lack balance and stability, such as the elderly or injured.

Wunda Chair
Closely simulates everyday movements, making the exercise more functional. It highlights imbalances and weaknesses like no other piece of equipment. It is also well suited for improving general fitness and enhancing athletic performance. The upright footwork positions demand grater activation of the trunk stabilisers than the reformer or cadillac.

Barrels
The barrels provide exceptional opportunities for both active and passive back extension at all ability levels. The barrels are great for strengthening the back extensors and for passively relaxing in a position of spinal extension, thereby stretching the trunk flexors. During forward flexion abdominal exercises, the barrel supports the lower back in a neutral position; this is very important when flexion of the lumbar spine is contraindicated. The barrels also support the trunk during lateral flexion exercises from fundamental to advanced levels, facilitating the improvement of both strength and flexibility. Lying supine over the step barrel at the end of a session leaves you feeling stretched out, with a delightful open feeling.
